Introduction: We know this is not a new episode but coming soon is The Future, This Week Season 2.
Kai Riemer: I'm Kai Riemer.
Sandra Peter: I'm Sandra Peter and we're the hosts of The Future, This Week. Once a week we get together and discuss the news of the week. The most interesting, the most challenging, the most ridiculous, weird, wonderful. The most disappointing news of the week.
Kai: There's a whole lot I can talk about.
Sandra and Kai: For the past season, we've looked at some big stories. Asked some interesting questions. Should e-mail die? Can we fight climate change by moving to the city? Why electric cars are nothing like fax machines. Keeping up with blockchain. Living the good life on Instagram turns into real work. Sexism in Silicon Valley. The exorcism of Uber. Inventors versus innovators. Do wearables deserve to die? Looming AI apocalypse. What makes Amazon successful. Cameras killing keyboards. And some things just keep coming up. Tax tax tax tax tax. I can't believe we're talking tax again. Batteries batteries batteries batteries.
And of course let's not forget "Robot of the Week": Robocop. Behold the Tertill. Robolawyers. Sumobots. A robot is burning Donald Trump's tweets. A robot with a human touch: Flobi. Flobi. It's really been a whole lot of fun.
Sandra: A man walks into a Chinese click farm.[BIRD NOISES] What kind of personal data are the smart condoms collecting? [LAUGHTER]. For the next season of The Future,This Week you can again expect great insights. Unpacking the big questions.
Kai: The basic technologies that underpin innovations. It raises so many questions right Sandra?
Sandra and Kai: Yes time horizon, speed of replacement, data, big design, artificial intelligence, smart cities, facial recognition algorithms, keeping up with blockchain, does technology make us less productive, future of work, The Internet of Things, the road for self driving cars rockier than we thought? Companies like Uber and Tesla, WhatsApp, WeChat, Google, IBM, the big three TenCent, Alibaba and Baidu, the frightful five, Microsoft Alphabet Amazon Apple and Facebook. And of course we won't be afraid to call it when we need to.
Kai: I find that hard to believe. So that can be challenged.
Sandra: That's bullshit.
Kai: Bullshit. What's the word? A polite way of saying this - a little bit....
Sandra: Bullshit.
Kai: Yes very good.
Sandra: See you soon on Season 2 of The Future, This Week.
Kai: See you next week.
