Lilia is a higher education professional, early academic and researcher. Her professional and academic work experience includes learning and teaching, academic development, research development, learning design and project management.
Lilia is passionate about doctoral education. Lilia Mantai completed a PhD on researcher identity development of doctoral students and the role of social support at Macquarie University. Her research in this area was recognised with two awards: Excellence in Higher Degree Research Award and Award of Excellence: Highly Commended Paper by Emerald Literati Publishing Group. Lilia remains an active member in the international doctoral education research network. She has worked in various roles and capacities with doctoral candidates, supervisors and higher degree support staff in enhancing research and researcher development as well as developing support.
Lilia has worked in learning and teaching, specifically student engagement and students as creators as well as academic and teaching development. She has been actively engaged in promoting undergraduate research opportunities and research-based learning in Australia and beyond. She has years of classroom and online teaching experience in higher education. She has taught in International Studies, Languages (German and Russian), Learning and Teaching Foundation Program and Postgraduate Certificate at Macquarie University and UNSW.
